Number 19 flowed so easily from my hands today. I love making these amazing instruments. I was told by a famous handpan maker that making these tank drums, or steel tongue drums was a waste of time. I disagree. Not everyone has the funds or the passion for a full handpan, not to mention how long it can take to acquire a quality instrument, but many people desire an affordable, melodic drum. This one is in the key of C mixolydian. The sustain of this instrument is between 10 and 15 seconds, or in the good handpan range. The tones are very meditative, soothing and healing, I believe. ![]() And this is a photo of the bottom of #19. Each drum has its own colors, character and appeal. The tones are warm and soothing to the ear.

Christopher of the WolvesAt first, making these drums was more of a business idea. But then as I made my first batch of 10 drums in July of 2013, I realized I had stumbled onto making a very special musical drum. Archives
